Delete Pages from PDF

Add your PDF to the box above and you will see every page as a small picture. Tap the pages you do not want, press Delete, and download the new file. That is all it takes. The pages you marked are gone, and the rest stay in the same order.

Everything happens in your browser, so your PDF is not uploaded to us. Bookmarks, links and form fields are kept. The new file is usually smaller too, because anything that only the removed pages used, such as their pictures and fonts, is left out.

Most PDFs carry pages nobody needs. A scanned contract has an empty back side after every sheet. A report ends with an ad for the printer. An exported slide deck has a title page you do not want to send. A bank statement has five pages of terms when the form only asks for the first one.

Taking those pages out makes the file shorter, easier to read and quicker to send. It also keeps private pages private. If you only need to share page 3 of a ten page document, it is safer to send a PDF with just that page than to ask someone to skip the rest.

It also helps with size limits. Upload forms and email often cap attachments at a few megabytes. Removing pages with big photos or scans is often the easiest way to get under the limit without lowering the quality of the pages you keep.

This tool lets you remove pages from PDF free, as often as you like. There is no sign-up, no watermark, no daily limit and no paid upgrade hidden behind the Save button. You add a file, mark pages and download the result.

It stays free because the work is done by your own device. Your browser opens the PDF, draws the thumbnails and writes the new file. We do not pay for a server to process your document, so we do not need to charge for it or limit how many files you handle.

To delete one page from PDF files, tap that page once. It gets a red border and a bin icon, and the button changes to Delete 1 page. Press it and download. If you tap the wrong page, tap it again to unmark it.

If the document is long, you do not have to scroll to find the page. Type its number in the box, for example 14, and that page is marked at once. Use the S, M and L buttons above the thumbnails to make them smaller, so more pages fit on the screen, or larger, so you can read them before you decide.

You can delete multiple pages from PDF files in one go. Tap each page you want gone, and all of them are marked at the same time. There is no need to save after each one. When you press the button, every marked page is removed in a single step.

On a computer, Shift+click saves a lot of tapping. Click page 4, hold Shift and click page 12, and pages 4 to 12 are all marked. Shift+click on a marked page clears a run the same way.

Typing works well for long files. Separate pages with commas and use a dash for a range: 2, 5-7, 10-end marks page 2, pages 5 to 7, and everything from page 10 to the last page. The thumbnails update as you type, so you can check the marks before you save. Swap turns your marks around, and None clears them all.

Scanners that scan both sides of the paper leave an empty page behind every one-sided sheet. To delete blank pages from PDF scans, open the file and tap Blank pages. The tool looks at each page, marks the ones that are empty, and tells you which page numbers it found.

Always look at the marked pages before you save. A page with only a faint line, a small page number or a light stamp may count as blank, and a page with scanner noise or a grey edge may not. Tap a page to unmark it or to add it by hand. The finder is a quick helper, not a final decision.

Some privacy browsers and privacy settings block websites from reading what is drawn on the page. In that case the tool tells you that blank pages cannot be found automatically. You can still mark the empty pages by tapping them or typing their numbers.

To remove last page of PDF files, tap Last and then press Delete 1 page. This is handy for the empty or advert page that many exports and printers add at the end. First works the same way for a cover sheet or fax header at the start.

To take off the last few pages, type a range that ends with end. For example, 8-end marks page 8 and every page after it. This saves you from counting how many pages the file has.

If you need to remove odd or even pages PDF scans often make this easy: tap Odd to mark pages 1, 3, 5 and so on, or Even to mark pages 2, 4, 6. Then press the button to delete them all at once.

This is useful when a duplex scan puts an empty back side after every page. In that case every even page is blank, and one tap on Even clears them all. It also helps when a file has every page twice, or when you want only the left or right pages of a scanned book.

Odd and Even also work with Keep only marked pages. Mark Odd, switch to keep mode, and you get a new PDF with only the odd pages.

Sometimes you want the opposite: keep a few pages and drop everything else. Switch What to do to Keep only marked pages. Now the pages you tap get a blue tick, and those are the only pages in the new file. This is the quickest way to extract pages from PDF documents, for example one invoice from a monthly batch or one chapter from a book.

The order is always the order of the original file. If you mark pages 9, 2 and 5, the new PDF has pages 2, 5 and 9. To put pages in a different order, use Organize PDF after you save. To cut a PDF into several files at once, Split PDF is the better choice.

Under More options you can turn on Also save the removed pages as a separate PDF. Then you get two files: the PDF with the pages that stay, and a second PDF with the pages you took out. Download each one, or tap Both (ZIP) to get them together in one ZIP file.

This is a safe way to tidy a file when you are not sure you will never need those pages. It is also a quick way to divide a document into two parts, for example the signed pages and the rest.

The same panel lets you choose the file name. By default the new file gets -pages-deleted or -extracted added to the original name, so you never overwrite the original by mistake. The removed pages file ends in -removed-pages. Untick the box to keep the original name.

The pages you keep are copied as they are, not printed again or turned into pictures. Text stays sharp and searchable, you can still select and copy it, and images keep their original quality.

Bookmarks, links and form fields come along with the pages that stay. If you fill in forms or use a table of contents to jump around, they still work in the new file.

The new file is often much smaller. When you delete a page, the photos, fonts and other parts that only that page used are left out. After saving, the result shows the new size next to the old one, so you can see the difference.

You can delete pages from PDF without Adobe Acrobat. The free Acrobat Reader lets you read and comment, but taking pages out of a file needs a paid Acrobat plan. This page does the same job for free in any browser, with nothing to install.

There are also tools already on your computer. On a Mac, Preview can delete a page: show the sidebar thumbnails, select a page and press Delete, then save. On Windows, you can print the PDF to Microsoft Print to PDF and type only the pages you want to keep. Printing makes a new file from scratch, though, so bookmarks, links and form fields are lost, and text can become harder to select.

This tool copies the pages instead of printing them, so it keeps those parts and works the same way on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook.

To delete pages from PDF on iPhone, open this page in Safari and tap Select PDF file. Choose the PDF from Files, iCloud Drive or a recent download. Tap the pages you want gone, tap the red button, then tap Download PDF. Safari saves the new file to the Downloads folder in the Files app.

On Android it works the same way in Chrome or any other browser. The new PDF goes to your Downloads folder. On a phone there is no Shift key, so tap pages one by one, or type a range like 3-8 in the box to mark many pages at once. The S size shows more thumbnails on a small screen.

Phones have less memory than computers. Very large PDFs with hundreds of scanned pages may open slowly on an older phone. If that happens, try the same file on a computer.

Chrome can already save some pages of a PDF: open the file, press Print, choose Save as PDF and type the pages to keep. That works for a quick job, but it prints the pages into a new file, so bookmarks, links and form fields are lost.

A better way to delete pages from PDF in Chrome is this page. Open it in a tab, drop the PDF on the box and mark the pages. The new file is written in the browser and keeps those parts. It works the same way in Edge, Firefox, Safari, Brave and Opera.

Some PDFs need a password to open, and some open freely but are protected against changes. In both cases the tool asks for the password before it can remove pages. Type it on the yellow bar and tap Unlock.

This is the one step that is not done in your browser. The PDF is sent to our server only to remove the lock, then sent back and deleted from the server. The rest of the work happens on your device as usual. If you do not know the password, the tool cannot remove it. Unlock PDF explains more, and Protect PDF can add a password back to the new file.

Your PDF does not leave your device. The file is read by your browser, the thumbnails are drawn on your screen, and the new PDF is made in the page itself..

The only exception is a password-protected PDF, as explained above. Nothing else is uploaded, and we do not keep copies of your files. Your choices, such as delete or keep mode and thumbnail size, are remembered in your own browser so they are ready next time.

When you add a PDF, the tool reads it with a PDF engine that runs inside the web page. Each thumbnail is drawn only when it scrolls into view, so even long files open quickly and stay smooth to scroll.

When you press the button, a second engine copies the pages that stay into a new PDF. It brings along the bookmarks, links and form fields that belong to them, and leaves out anything that only the removed pages used. The new file is saved straight from your browser.

Switch to the L thumbnail size before you delete pages you are not sure about, so you can read them. Switch back to S to see the whole file at once.

Turn on Also save the removed pages when you clean up an important file. If you change your mind later, Merge PDF can put the pages back.

If you made a mistake after saving, tap Change pages. Your marks are still there, so you can fix them and save again without adding the file a second time.
