Sign PDF Online

To sign a PDF online, add the file to the box above, make your signature once, then click on the page where it should go. Press the button below the pages and download the signed copy. It takes about a minute, and you can add initials, the date, text and ticks in the same pass.

Everything happens in your browser. Your PDF and your signature are not uploaded, there is no account to create, and each file can be up to 200 MB.

You can add signature to PDF free of charge here, as often as you like. There is no trial, no page limit, no watermark stamped on your document and no sign-up. The signed file looks exactly like the original, plus the marks you added.

There is no paid tier for signing: the work is done by your own browser, so there is nothing to count or limit. The only limit is 200 MB per PDF, enough for long scanned contracts.

If you like your pen signature best, the Photo option works as a transparent signature PNG maker built into the signing tool. Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen, take a clear photo in good light and choose it. White and light grey paper is removed, and what is left is your ink on a see-through background.

The Remove paper slider controls how much is taken away: move it right if a grey shadow is left, left if thin strokes vanish. Use the ink colour redraws the ink in the colour you picked; switch it off to keep your pen's colour.

To be clear about what it does: the see-through signature goes straight onto your PDF, and the tool does not offer it as a separate PNG file to download. If you need a standalone PNG of a signature or a stamp for another program, Remove Background can cut the paper out of a photo and save it as a PNG.

Contracts and leases often ask you to initial every page or each change. To add initials to PDF pages, switch Make from Signature to Initials and draw, type or photograph them exactly as you do your signature. Your signature and your initials are kept separately, so you can use both in the same document.

Initials are placed smaller than a signature, at about the size of a box on a form, and you can resize them with the blue dot. To put them on every page at once, select them and use Copy to pages, described in the next section.

Long agreements usually need a mark on each page. Instead of clicking dozens of times, place your initials or signature once, select it, and type all, or a range like 1-3, 5, into Copy to pages. One press of Copy puts the same item at the same spot on every page you named.

This is the quickest way to sign multiple pages PDF documents such as rental agreements and loan papers. The copies stay linked, so Remove the copies takes them all off again if you change your mind.

Most forms need more than a signature. Here you can fill and sign PDF free in one go. If the PDF has real form fields, they are listed in the Form fields panel: type into text boxes, tick checkboxes, and choose from drop-down lists and option buttons. The answers are written into the PDF's own fields, so they show correctly in any PDF reader.

If the form is a scanned page without fields, use Text to type anywhere, Date for today's date in one of six formats, and Tick or Cross for the boxes. Text can be resized and recoloured.

Under More options you can lock the filled form, so the fields can no longer be changed. Locking, also called flattening, turns the answers into normal page content. If you only need to fill in a form and not sign it, Fill PDF Forms is made just for that.

You do not need Adobe Acrobat, a paid subscription or a desktop program. To sign PDF without Adobe, open this page in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, add the file and sign it. Nothing is installed, it works on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook, and the signed file opens in Acrobat, Preview or any other PDF reader just as before.

To sign PDF on iPhone, open this page in Safari, tap Select PDF file and pick the document from Files, iCloud Drive or a mail attachment you saved. Draw your signature with your finger on the pad, tap Use this signature, then tap the spot on the page. When you save and download, the signed copy goes to the Downloads folder in the Files app, ready to share by mail or message.

On an iPad, an Apple Pencil gives a more natural line. For a tiny signature line, zoom in with two fingers first.

To sign PDF on Android, open this page in Chrome, tap Select PDF file and choose the PDF from your Downloads, Google Drive or another app. Draw with your finger, or use Type if a neat typed signature is enough, then tap where it goes. The signed PDF is saved to your Downloads, where any PDF app can open it and you can share it to WhatsApp or email.

Very long PDFs open more slowly on a phone, so for a contract of hundreds of pages a computer is more comfortable.

Many signing sites ask you to register before you can download the result. Here you can sign PDF without account details of any kind: no email address, no password, no phone number. Open the page, sign, download.

Your PDF and your signature are not uploaded to a server. The pages are shown, edited and saved by your browser, using a PDF library that runs on your device. The one exception is a PDF locked with a password or restricted against changes: it is sent to our server only to remove the lock, and deleted right after. Everything that follows, including your signature, still happens in your browser.

On a shared computer, switch off Remember on this device or delete your saved signatures before you leave. To stop others from opening the signed copy, add a password with Protect PDF.

This tool adds an electronic signature: your signature as a mark on the page, much like signing a printed copy and scanning it. Many laws accept simple electronic signatures for a wide range of everyday documents, for example the ESIGN Act in the United States, the eIDAS regulation in the European Union and the Information Technology Act in India.

That acceptance has limits. Some documents, such as certain wills, property deeds, court papers or official filings, may need a handwritten signature, a witness, a notary, or a qualified or certificate-based signature. The rules differ by country and by type of document, and the person or company asking for your signature may have its own requirements.
