How to convert a PDF to one long image

This page turns a PDF into one tall picture. Add your PDF, pick the pages, and press Convert. The pages are placed one under the other, in order, with a small gap between them, and saved as a single image you can scroll from top to bottom.

Converting a PDF to one long image is the easy way to share a whole document where only pictures work: a chat, a social post, a Notion page, a Slack thread or a website. People see every page in one place, without opening a PDF viewer or swiping through ten separate files.

Everything happens in your browser. Your PDF is not uploaded, there is no sign-up and no watermark. You choose the format (JPG, PNG or WebP), the resolution, the pages, and whether the result is in colour, grayscale or black and white.

  1. 1

    Add your PDF

Tap Select PDF file, drop the file on the box, or paste it with Ctrl+V. You can add several PDFs; each one becomes its own long image.

  2. 2

    Choose the pages

Leave it on all pages, or tap Choose pages to tick the ones you want. You can also type a range like 1-5, 8 or pick odd or even pages.

  3. 3

    Pick format and quality

Choose JPG, PNG or WebP and a DPI. 150 DPI suits screens. Joining pages is already switched on in More options.

  4. 4

    Convert and download

Press Convert. The pages are stacked into one tall image. Download it, or tap Share on your phone to send it straight to a chat.

The defaults suit most documents: JPG at 150 DPI, all pages, joined into one picture. For a long PDF, pick the pages that matter most, so the image stays sharp. The section on resolution limits below explains why.

How this PDF to long image converter works

A good PDF to long image converter should do one thing well: keep every page readable while putting them all in one file. This one draws each page at the resolution you choose, places the pages in a single column and saves the result as one picture. The order follows the page numbers you selected, so page 1 is always at the top.

All pages are drawn at the same scale. If your PDF mixes page sizes, for example a wide landscape table between portrait pages, the image becomes as wide as the widest page and narrower pages are centred, with blank space at the sides. Nothing is stretched or cropped, so text keeps its shape.

The tool runs on your own computer or phone. It uses the same open-source PDF engine that the Firefox browser uses to show PDFs, then your browser saves the picture. There is no queue and no server wait; a short document usually takes a second or two.

Convert PDF to single image: one picture per PDF

When you convert PDF to single image files on this page, you get exactly one picture per PDF. A 12-page report becomes one tall JPG with all 12 pages, not 12 separate files. The file name tells you which pages are inside, for example report-pages-1-12.jpg.

The You will get box next to the settings confirms this before you start. It says how many selected pages go into the one image and which format it will be. If you select just one page, you simply get that page as a normal image, because there is nothing to join.

If you would rather have a separate image for every page, open More options and switch off Join the selected pages into one long image. You then get one picture per page in a ZIP, the same as our PDF to JPG tool.

How the pages are stacked

Here is what happens to the pages in more detail. The tool measures every selected page and adds them up into one tall canvas. Between two pages it leaves a small gap of 12 points, about 4 mm, so you can still see where one page ends and the next begins. At 150 DPI that gap is 25 pixels.

The gap and the space around narrower pages are white for JPG. For PNG and WebP you can set the background to Transparent in More options, so only the page content is visible and the gaps are see-through. That is handy when you place the picture on a coloured slide or web page.

All the settings

Format

JPG for small files that open anywhere, PNG for lossless text and transparency, WebP for small files with transparency.

Quality (DPI)

72 for a quick preview, 150 for screens, 300 for print, 600 for fine detail, or a custom value from 36 to 1200 DPI.

File size

Best quality, or a limit of Under 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB or a custom size in KB for forms and chats with upload limits.

JPG quality

A slider from 50% to 100% in More options. 92% looks identical to the page; lower values give smaller files.

Colour

Colour, Grayscale or Black & white. Black and white makes scanned text crisp and keeps files small.

Background

White, or Transparent for PNG and WebP, so the gaps and margins around pages are see-through.

One long image

Join the selected pages into one long image. It is on by default here; switch it off to get one image per page.

Choose pages

Thumbnails with tick boxes, quick buttons for all, none, odd, even or first, and ranges like 2-6, 9-end.

PDF to long JPG: small files for sharing

A PDF to long JPG is the best choice for sharing. JPG files are small, open on every phone and computer, and every chat app and website accepts them. Text from a PDF stays clear at the default quality of 92%, which looks the same as the page to the eye.

If the file is too big for an upload form or a chat, open More options and move the JPG quality slider down to 80% or 70%. You can also pick a size limit such as Under 500 KB. The tool then lowers the quality step by step and, if that is not enough, makes the picture smaller until it fits. A long image holds many pages, so a tight limit like Under 100 KB can make small text hard to read.

PDF to long PNG: lossless text and transparency

Choose PDF to long PNG when you want the sharpest possible text and lines. PNG is lossless, so letters, thin lines, charts and diagrams keep crisp edges with no blur around them. It is a good fit for documentation, code listings, spreadsheets and anything you might zoom into.

The trade-off is size. A long PNG with many pages can be several times larger than the same image as JPG, especially when the pages contain photos. PNG is also the format for a transparent background. Note that PNG cannot be squeezed to a size limit; if you set one, the image is saved as JPG instead, and transparency is only kept when no size limit is set.

WebP is the third option. It usually gives smaller files than JPG at the same quality and supports transparency too. Most modern browsers and apps open WebP, but some older programs and upload forms still do not, so JPG is the safer choice when you are not sure.

Merge PDF pages into one image: choose which pages

You can merge PDF pages into one image with full control over which pages go in. Tap Choose pages next to the file name to see a thumbnail of every page. Tick and untick pages, use the quick buttons for all, none, odd, even or the first page, or type a range such as 1-3, 6, 9-end.

The pages are always joined in page order, from the lowest number to the highest. If you need a different order, or pages from two PDFs in one picture, combine them first with Merge PDF, arrange them there, and then make the long image from the merged file. To keep only part of a large file, Split PDF can cut it into smaller documents first.

How long can the image be? Resolution limits

Browsers can only draw pictures up to a certain size. An image side can be at most 16,384 pixels, and the total area is limited too, more strictly on iPhone and iPad. When all your pages do not fit at the DPI you chose, the tool lowers the resolution so the image still fits, and shows a note such as: some pages were saved at 138 DPI instead of 150 DPI. This table shows what to expect for A4 or Letter pages on a computer.

A4 or Letter pages in one image, on a computer
Pages in one imageResolution usedWhat it is good for
Up to 4 pages300 DPIPrint-sharp, about 2,480 px wide
Up to 9 pages150 DPISharp on any screen, about 1,240 px wide
10 pagesAbout 138 DPIStill easy to read, about 1,140 px wide
20 pagesAbout 69 DPIReadable when opened full size, about 570 px wide
30 pagesAbout 46 DPILarge text only, about 380 px wide
50 pagesAbout 28 DPIAn overview, small text will not be readable

On an iPhone or iPad the area limit is lower, so about 7 pages fit at 150 DPI and 10 pages come out at roughly 128 DPI. From around 20 pages the height limit is the same everywhere, so phones and computers give the same result.

The rule of thumb is simple: the more pages in one image, the lower the resolution of each page. To keep text sharp, put fewer pages in each image. For a 30-page document, three images of 10 pages each are far easier to read than one image of 30 pages. A higher DPI setting does not help once the limit is reached; the tool already uses the most the browser allows.

PDF to long screenshot without toolbars or blur

A PDF to long screenshot looks like a full-page scrolling screenshot, but it is cleaner. A screenshot of a PDF viewer captures the toolbar, the zoom level of your screen and the grey space around the pages. This tool draws the pages themselves, at a resolution you choose, so there are no menus, scroll bars or blurry edges.

It is also more reliable. Scrolling screenshots on phones often stop early, repeat a strip of the page or miss the last part. Here every selected page is included exactly once, and the result has the same width all the way down. If you only need part of the picture afterwards, Crop Image can cut out one section.

PDF to vertical image for scrolling: comics, carousels, feeds

A PDF to vertical image conversion suits anything people read by scrolling down: comics, manga and webtoon-style strips exported as PDF, a recipe, a menu, a step-by-step guide, a thread of slides or a short report. The reader just keeps scrolling, the way they read a feed.

For a LinkedIn or Instagram style carousel saved as a PDF, a long image lets you share all the slides as one picture in a chat or on a page. Keep in mind that many social apps show pictures in a fixed frame and crop or shrink a very tall image in the feed. Long images work best where people can open the picture full size and scroll, such as chats, Notion, Slack, blogs and websites.

Many platforms also limit how tall one uploaded image can be. If a site rejects your picture, make two or three long images from page ranges, for example pages 1-10 and 11-20, and post them in order.

Common uses

Sharing in chats

Send a ticket, an invoice, a timetable or a short contract as one picture in WhatsApp, Telegram or Messages, where it opens instantly.

Notion, Slack and team wikis

Drop one long image into a page or a thread so everyone sees the whole document without downloading a PDF.

Comics and webtoon-style reading

Turn a comic or manga chapter saved as PDF into a single vertical strip that readers can scroll.

Carousels as one picture

Share all slides of a carousel PDF as one image in a message, a blog post or a portfolio page.

Menus, recipes and guides

Publish a multi-page menu, recipe or how-to as one image on a website or a social profile link.

Proof of a full document

Keep a single picture of a signed agreement, a receipt or an order confirmation in your photo gallery.

PDF to long image online free on iPhone and Android

This PDF to long image online free tool works in the browser on an iPhone, iPad or Android phone, with no app to install. Open the page in Safari or Chrome, tap Select PDF file and pick the PDF from Files, Google Drive, your downloads or a document someone sent you in a chat.

Choose the pages, tap Convert, then tap Share to send the picture straight to WhatsApp, Telegram, Messages or email, or save it to your photos. Phones have less memory for pictures than computers, and an iPhone or iPad allows a smaller image area than a desktop browser. On a phone the tool may therefore use a lower resolution for a long document, and it tells you when it does.

PDF to long image free: no sign-up, no watermark

This PDF to long image free tool has no daily limit, no account and no watermark on the result. You can convert as many documents as you like, one after another or several at once. The image you download is exactly what was drawn, with nothing added to it.

It is free because the work happens in your browser rather than on a paid server. That also means your PDF stays on your device. The only limits are the ones your browser sets: a PDF can be up to 300 MB, you can add up to 50 PDFs at a time, and together they can be up to 1 GB.

Several PDFs at once

You can add several PDFs at once by selecting or dropping them together. With joining switched on, each PDF becomes its own long image; pages from different files are never mixed. When there is more than one image, they come together in one ZIP, with a folder for each PDF.

Every PDF can have its own page selection. Tap Choose pages on each file to pick the pages for that image. To put pages from different PDFs into one picture, join the files first with Merge PDF and then convert the merged file here.

Is it safe? Your PDF is not uploaded

Your PDF is not uploaded. Opening the file, drawing the pages, stacking them and saving the image all happen in your browser, on your own device. That matters for contracts, bank statements, medical letters and ID documents, which are often exactly the files people want to share as one picture.

If the PDF has an open password, the tool asks for it and opens the file in your browser; the password does not leave your device either. Some privacy browsers block saving pictures drawn by a page, as a defence against tracking. If that happens, the tool tells you, and allowing this site in the browser settings fixes it.

Common problems and fixes

The text is blurry

The image holds too many pages for its size limit, so the resolution was lowered. Make two or three images from page ranges instead of one.

The note says a lower DPI was used

Your browser could not draw the full image at the DPI you chose. This is expected for long documents; fewer pages per image keeps it sharp.

The site will not accept the picture

The image may be too tall or too heavy. Split the pages into smaller ranges, choose JPG or set a size limit such as Under 500 KB.

The image is too large to send

Use JPG instead of PNG, lower the JPG quality to 80%, or choose Black & white for text documents. Compress Image can shrink it further.

I got separate images, not one

Open More options and check that Join the selected pages into one long image is ticked, and that more than one page is selected.

Dark mode or night reading

To read a long image comfortably in the dark, first make a dark version of the PDF with Invert PDF Colors, then convert it here.

Pages are in the wrong order

Pages are joined in page number order. Reorder them first with Merge PDF, which lets you arrange pages, then convert.

The browser ran out of memory

Very long documents at high DPI can be too much for a phone. Choose 150 DPI or fewer pages and try again.

Tips for a sharp long image

Use 150 DPI for anything people will read on a screen. It is sharp on phones and laptops and keeps the file small. Go up to 300 DPI only for a few pages you want to print or zoom into.

Keep each long image to about ten pages or fewer. Beyond that the resolution must drop, and small print gets hard to read. Several shorter images are better than one image nobody can read.

Pick only the pages that matter. Cover pages, blank pages and long appendices make the image taller without adding anything for the reader.

For text-only documents, try Black & white. It makes scanned pages cleaner and the file much smaller. For photos and charts, stay with Colour.

If you need each page on its own as well, switch off joining and convert again; your other settings stay the same.

What to do with your image next

Once you have your long picture, Compress Image can make it smaller for email and slow connections, and Crop Image can cut out one part, such as a single table or signature. To add more pictures under or next to it, Merge Images stacks several images into one.

If you need every page as a separate file instead, use PDF to JPG or PDF to PNG. To go the other way and turn pictures back into a document, JPG to PDF puts them into a PDF in seconds.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn a PDF into one long image?

Add your PDF to the box at the top of this page, choose the pages and the format, and press Convert. Joining is switched on by default here, so the selected pages are stacked one under the other into one tall picture that you can download or share.

Is this converter really free, with no watermark?

Yes. This PDF to long image converter is free to use, needs no account and adds no watermark. The picture you download contains only your pages.

Is there a limit on how many files I can convert?

Yes, it is a PDF to long image free tool with no daily limit. You can add up to 50 PDFs at a time, each up to 300 MB, and convert as many batches as you like.

Can I use PDF to long image online free on my phone?

Yes. PDF to long image online free works in Safari and Chrome on iPhone, iPad and Android with no app. Phones can draw smaller images than computers, so long documents may come out at a lower resolution there.

How do I convert a PDF to one long image with only some pages?

Tap Choose pages next to the file name and tick the pages you want, or type a range like 1-4, 7. Only the selected pages go into the PDF to one long image result, in page order.

Can I convert PDF to single image instead of many files?

Yes. When you convert PDF to single image files here, each PDF gives exactly one picture with all selected pages inside. Switch joining off in More options if you want one image per page instead.

How do I make a PDF to long JPG?

Leave the format on JPG and press Convert. A PDF to long JPG is small and opens everywhere, which makes it the best choice for chats and websites.

When should I choose PDF to long PNG?

Choose PDF to long PNG for the sharpest text, thin lines and charts, or when you need a transparent background. PNG files are larger than JPG, so use JPG when size matters.

Can I merge PDF pages into one image in a different order?

The tool joins pages in page number order. To merge PDF pages into one image in another order, rearrange them first with a PDF merge tool, then convert the new file here.

Is a PDF to long screenshot better than a scrolling screenshot?

Usually, yes. A PDF to long screenshot made here contains only the pages, with no toolbars or grey margins, every page appears exactly once, and you choose the resolution.

What is a PDF to vertical image good for?

A PDF to vertical image is ideal for content read by scrolling: comics, manga and webtoon-style strips, recipes, menus, guides and slide decks shared in chats, Notion or Slack.

How many pages can one long image hold?

There is no fixed page limit, but browsers cap an image side at 16,384 pixels. On a computer about 9 A4 pages fit at 150 DPI. With more pages the tool lowers the resolution so the image still fits.

Why does my long image look blurry?

It probably holds many pages. To fit the browser limit, the tool lowers the resolution and shows a note with the DPI it used. Make several images from smaller page ranges to keep text sharp.

Does a higher DPI help with many pages?

Not once the size limit is reached. The tool already draws the image as large as your browser allows. Fewer pages per image is the only way to get more detail per page.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is opened, drawn and saved as an image inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to our server.

Can I convert several PDFs at once?

Yes. Add several PDFs together. Each PDF becomes its own long image, and all images come in one ZIP with a folder for each PDF.

Is there a gap between the pages?

Yes, a small gap of about 4 mm separates the pages so you can see where each one ends. It is white for JPG, and can be transparent for PNG and WebP.

Can I make the long image black and white?

Yes. Open More options and choose Grayscale or Black & white. It applies to the whole image and makes text documents smaller and cleaner.

Can I set a maximum file size?

Yes. Choose Under 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB or a custom size. The tool lowers the quality first and then the pixel size until it fits. Very tight limits can make small text hard to read on a long image.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Yes. If the PDF has an open password, type it when asked. The file is unlocked in your browser and the password stays on your device.

What happens if my pages have different sizes?

The image becomes as wide as the widest page. Narrower pages are centred with blank space at the sides, and every page keeps its own shape without stretching.
