Where Should the Watermark Go?
Corner placements are the professional default. A small, semi-transparent line in the bottom right stays out of the way of the subject while still travelling with the image. This is what photographers, illustrators and stock contributors overwhelmingly use — it credits without spoiling the picture.
Diagonal and tiled placements exist for a different purpose: making the image impractical to use. If you are sending proofs to a client before payment, or publishing previews of paid work, a tiled watermark cannot be cropped out without destroying the image. It is deliberately intrusive, and that is the point.
For opacity, somewhere between thirty and fifty percent works for most photos — visible enough to be a real mark, subtle enough not to ruin the image. White with a soft shadow (which this tool adds automatically) reads well over both light and dark backgrounds, which is why it is the default.
