Why the Output Is Always a PNG
This trips up a lot of people, so it is worth stating plainly. Rounding a corner means removing the pixels outside the curve — and something has to be there instead. In a PNG, that something is transparency: the corners become genuinely empty, so the image sits cleanly on any background, light or dark.
JPG has no alpha channel at all. It physically cannot store "nothing" in a pixel. Save a rounded image as a JPG and the corners are filled with a solid colour — usually white — which looks fine on a white page and obviously, visibly wrong anywhere else. That is why this tool always outputs PNG. If you specifically want white corners, set the background option to white and you will get exactly that, deliberately, rather than by accident.
